To have another one or not...

I am sooooo torn right now…
I always wanted to have one child. Never ever has the thought occurred to me about a second one.

Hubby has been wanting one more for a while now. We have had arguments and HUGE fights over it, and now he has kind of given up one having a second one.
And I am having second thoughts!!!!!!!!!!.
He does not know it though.

And I don’t want to talk to about it with any one I know personally.
There are just so many questions, trepidations and so much fear too.
I was 24 when I had Sahithi and it was an unplanned pregnancy. If I Think back now, I was darn scared but somehow got through it.

We were struggling newly weds with a baby on the way. Hubby dear was barely making any money and I was looking for a job had student loans to clear off.
On top of it hubby's company shut shop when I was 5 months along. We barely had any savings at all. Just enough to scrape through for 2 months.
Thankfully he found a job in 40 days. We relocated. I had the baby. Took a while to get a job which took me 1600 miles away from hubby dear. We did the long distance commute for 10 months before I could find the job in the same place as he is. I had the baby with me and traveled with her every two weeks. Since there are no direct flights, connecting flights, delayed flights, getting stuck in the airports, missed flights have seen it all. Sahithi was only 10 months when I started. It was a very tough time but we got through it. I know it killed hubby dear to be away from her, but he endured all that for me, ONLY for me. I have never planned to be a SAHM. I have tremendous respect for them but I know I wont be good SAHM from my 10 months experience.

Now things have settled down. We work in the same city. Sahithi is four years old. Have finally bought our dream home.
Is it time to have another one? Everyone asks me this And I tell them NO. I don’t plan to have another one at all. But do I really mean it? I don’t know.

I do feel that I am denying my lil one of a sibling. But most of all, I cant find the words to describe the guilt that hits me when I see her playing with younger kids. She is just sooooo good with them, kind and gentle and generous always willing to share anything she has just to see a smile on the baby's face. The glow on her face when she is around a baby. The way she runs to me, to give a tight hug and tell me that she has made the baby happy. The way her face falls when she realizes that she has no sibling….

But I am still scared. VERY VERY scared of even the thought of a second one. How will we manage anything with a second one. Will there ever me enough time and money? Will we be able to provide the best that’s there for both the children? Will we be able to save enough for college for both? Will I be able to do justice as a working mom to two children?
I know they sound like silly reasons but they SCARE me. I know there is a very tiny part in me which wants to feel being pregnant again, which wants to hug my new born and cry because of all the over whelming emotions the tiny bundle can give, see another child of mine grow, see both my children play together, bond as they grow and be there for each other.
But these other thoughts of mine SCARE me and for now over shadow my desire to have another one.

I am so lost. Just so completely lost.

My four year old has a Crush..

well... what more can I say?? Her first crush. It's hilarious to me. Let me narrate what happened actually..

Last sunday Sahithi was playing with Madhu and then out of the blue told him in the ear

" Dada, Micheal wants to Marry me".
He was shocked into silence and after regaining senses, asked her to repeat it again. And she said it aloud again.

It was time for me to enter the picture now. I asked her
" why does he want to marry you Bangaru?"

Pat came the reply
"Because he Loooooves me and I Looooove him"

And neither of us could argue with that.
It was just sooo funny.

I am trying to imagine dear hubby's reaction for the same scene in few years *wicked grin*

Voice of Dissent

Are there any toddlers out there who are very vocal about their emotions.
This is what Sahihi says

" I am Mad on you" when she is angry at us.

"You made me sad" when we dont give in one of her whims.

"You made me sooooooo happpyyyyyyyy" when she is really pleased with us.....

Simple pleasures

Today for the first time I went out to jog after moving into the new house. Was in no mood to jog on treadmill.
Sahithi was sleeping when I went.

On my way back I plucked a couple of flowers for her.
The moment I gave them to her she gave a bear hug and said" I love you momy. They are so pretty and made me happy".

Such simple pleasures in life...

Out of Baby's Mouth

A little background here.
I had Sahithi within 15 months of getting married, before my 25th birthday. Took both us a little time to mould ourselves into parenthood.
Madhu has been wanting another baby and I have been resisting.
Don’t get me wrong here. I LOVE babies. But am scared of thinking about having another one.

Yesterday we drove to SanDiego. It is a good 2 hours drive.
We had gone to visit my cousin and his wife. They had some friends over and Sahithi ended up having a gala time with all the kids.
On our way back this is what happened.

Madhu: Did u fun at mama's house Bangaru?
Sahithi: Yes Dada I had lots of fun. I played with Adi and Eric. Eric has a baby brother…

After a couple of minutes she goes

Sahithi: Every one has a baby brother. Eric has one too. Can I have a baby brother and a baby sister?

We were a little taken aback. She has been talking about baby brother and baby sister but never said she wanted one before.

Madhu: Yes baby. You can have one.
Sahithi: I want a baby brother and a baby sister OUT OF MOMY'S TUMMY. Otherwise they wont be my brother and sister.

I am kind of confused now. My lil and my other half are ready for another baby. Am I???

2006 Xmas story.

I know these are a lot of postings..but want to do them before I forget.

Sahithi got candyland for Xmas. And she was very excited. In all the excitement she lost the instructions to play candyland. and the following conversation followed.

Me: Where are the instructions kuttamma?
Sahithi: What are instructions momy??

Me: The piece of paper om which something was written.
Short Pause with a slightly puzzled look on her face.

Sahithi: Santa thinks I dont need the paper to play candyland. Thats why he did not get me one.

Needless to say I had to find the instruction sheet on my own. :)

Bittergourd and Haircut

Today for the first time I fed my lil angel the most scary veggie of all. Bittergourd aka kakarakaya.

After a few mouthfuls the reaction was " amma, I think I am going to "throwupping"
It was just sooo very cute.

And also we got a haircut today. From long pig tails to a short fashionable bob.
It was windy out side and my lil DIVA says " The wind will mess up my hair"

And now I am scared of thinking what she has in store for me in the future *sigh*......
